Beltran picks Yankees; gets three-year deal

Carlos Beltran signed with the New York Yankees on Friday for three-years worth $45 million, first reported by Tim Brown of Yahoo!  https://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo

Carlos Beltran
Beltran played for the St. Louis Cardinals last season and hit 296. AVG,  24 HR  and 84 RBI. Beltran had other offers, one being the Kansas City Royals, who offered three-years and $48 million. Kansas City was the front runner until the Yankees jumped in late and increased their offer from two to three years. Beltran, currently 36, will be 37 in late April. At that age he will most likely play left field for the Yankees and might have to share time playing DH with Derek Jeter. The Yankees so far have gotten better, but the Boston Red Sox are still better and have a much deeper bench. The Red Sox have the best strike throwing bullpen in MLB.

The projected New York Yankees lineup after Beltran signing:

1 Brett Gardner OF NYY
2 Jacoby Ellsbury OF NYY
3 Carlos Beltran OF NYY
4 Mark Teixeira 1B NYY
5 Brian McCann  C NYY
6 Alfonso Soriano DH NYY
7 Derek Jeter SS NYY
8 Kelly Johnson 2B NYY
9 Brendan Ryan 3B NYY
