Napoli takes hometown discount to return to Boston

Mike Napoli's Tweet to confirm he is coming back to Boston
There was a moment in which some Boston Red Sox fans really wondered weather Mike Napoli would be back with the Red Sox. The Texas Rangers seemed to jump more into the sweepstakes along with the Seattle Mariners on Friday. Napoli's heart was in Boston, so agreeing to a two-year $32 million dollar deal with the Red Sox was probably the easiest thing the slugger has ever said yes to. The deal was first reported by WEEI's Rob Bradford.

Napoli last season played in a total of 139 games for the Red Sox. Napoli hit .259 while belting 25 home runs and driving in 92 runs. Napoli played a stellar first base for the Red Sox, only committing 6 errors (.994 fielding percentage). In the Red Sox postseason run "Big Nap" hit 2 home runs and drove in 7 runs. Napoli was one of the bearded wonders on the 2013 Red Sox team that went onto win the World Series so it was hard to figure he wasn't going to come back even when that three-year deal was sitting on the table.
