Yankees, INF Brian Roberts agree

The New York Yankees and second baseman Brian Roberts have agreed to a one-year deal worth $2 million dollars. Deal first reported by Ken Rosenthal of CBS.

Last season, Roberts hit .249 while belting 8 home runs and knocking in 39 runs for the Baltimore Orioles.

Brian Roberts
Roberts had his best season in 2007 when he hit .290, 12 home runs and knocked in 57 runs. You may not think that's good but he swept 50 bases for the O's.

The Yankees lost 2B Robinson Cano earlier in the off season, so it's expected that Roberts, a 2-time All- Star(2005, 2007), will compete with Kelly Johnson for the starting job at second base for the Pin Stripes.
