Yankees get Thorton

Today, the New York Yankees signed free agent relief pitcher Matt Thornton to a two-year deal worth $7 million dollars. The deal was first reported by Jack Curry of YES.

Last Season the Boston Red Sox acquired Matt Thornton in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. The Red Sox sent minor league outfielder Brandon Jacobs to White Sox.

Matt Thorton

Thornton, mainly in my opinion, will be a lefty specialist out of the bullpen. Thorton may be the Yankees only Lefty out of their pen. Thornton will help the Yankees with depth days after losing Boone Logan to the Colorado Rockies

Last season, Matt Thornton, 37,  had a 3.74 ERA with 30 strike outs in 43 1/3 innings pitched.
