White Sox sign reliever Downs

On Thursday the Chicago White Sox and Scott Downs agreed to terms. The deal is reportedly for one year and is worth $3.75 million dollars. Also, the deal includes an option for 2015 worth $4.25 million and a $250,000 thousand buyout which would guarantee $4 million in 2014.

Downs was a great set - up man with the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays in his career. Downs is a possibility for the closer role but with Nate Jones, Matt Lindstrom and Ronald Belisario already on the White Sox it is tough to see a lefty beat them out.

Downs went 4-4 with a 2.49 ERA and 26 holds in 2013.
