Orioles get their closer: Balfour

The Baltimore Orioles and free-agent closer, Grant Balfour, reached an agreement on a two-year contract worth $15 million dollars. The deal was reported by Roch Kubatko.

Grant Balfour
Balfour, pitching for the Oakland Athletics last year, posted a 2.45 ERA and saved 38 games.  For Oakland in the playoffs last year, Grant went 1-0 with 1 save.

Last season, Jim Johnson assumed the closer role for the Baltimore Orioles. Johnson was coming off a 2012 season in which he saved 51 games and only blew 3. In 2013, Johnson struggled a little bit saving 50 games out of a possible 59.

Jim Johnson earlier in the off season signed a deal with the Oakland Athletics, Balfour's former team, so it's only fitting Balfour goes to Johnson's former team.

Balfour, an All-Star in 2013, will bring a bad a$$ attitude to the O's bullpen no doubt.
