Astros ink Scott Feldman for 3 years, $30 million

Today, the Astros signed Scott Feldman to a three-year deal worth $30 million. The deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Scott Feldman
Last season, Scott Feldman went 12 - 12 with a 3.86 ERA while pitching in 181 2/3 innings. Feldman probably wouldn't have gotten $30 million from any other team, but considering this years free agent class it's understandable. Feldman will bring a veteran presence to the Astros, and will most likely be their ace. The Astros had an awful team ERA of 4.79 last season. With the additions of Dexter Fowler and Scott Feldman, the Astros may be on the rise. Let's not forget they have some of the best minor league talent in Mark Appel and Carlos Correa.

The projected Houston Astros starting rotation after Feldman signing:

Scott Feldman (12-12, 3.86)*While pitching for the Baltimore Orioles
Jared Cosart (1-1, 1.95)
Brett  Oberholtzer (4-5, 2.76)
Brad Peacock (5-6, 5.18)
Dallas Keuchel (6-10, 5.55)

Like 2013, the Astros might go tandem starters for the 2014 season as well. Tandem starters is basically having one starter pitch around 5 innings before having another one pitch the final four innings. The Astros did this a lot with Erik Bedard in 2013.
