Three deals, two days, one post

Trumbo heads to the desert in three-team trade

Paul Goldschmidt(left) and Mark Trumbo(right)
The Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels and Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a three-team trade. The trade will send power-hitting 1B/3B/OF Mark Trumbo(formerly on the Angels) to Arizona, LHP's Tyler Skaggs(formerly on the Diamondbacks) and Hector Santiago(formerly on the White Sox) to the Angels and OF Adam Eaton(formerly on the Diamondbacks) to the White Sox.

Trumbo getting traded make total sense if your a Diamondbacks fan. Arizona is adding a guy in Trumbo who hit .234 with 32 home runs and 100 runs driven in. Now you put Trumbo behind Paul Goldschmidt the Dbacks turn into real contenders or even more contenders out west. Arizona know they're going to need bats to beat the really strong arms of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It must be nice that Arizona had so many your arms, that they were able to give up a very good lefty in Tyler Skaggs.

A's and Rockies exchange lefties

Shortly after the first trade was done at the Winter Meetings the Colorado Rockies and Oakland Athletics were able to work something out involving a couple left handed pitchers. The Rockies were able to land former staff-ace, Brett Anderson, for Drew Pomeranz, Chris Jensen and $2 million in cash.

Anderson has had a tough time staying on the field. Anderson had only been able to start 11 games over the past two seasons for the A's. Anderson's last injury was to his ankle where he missed a number of significant starts.

Brett Anderson
Anderson's best season came in 2010 when he went 7-6 with a 2.89 ERA for the A's. It seemed like Anderson may be the odd man out of the Athletics rotation this season anyways because they posted just fine numbers without the lefty.

From the Athletics perspective, they are getting a nice left handed arm in Drew Pomeranz. Drew has not had too much success playing in the hitter friendly ball park names Coors Field, but he is still very young only being 25. Chris Jansen, 23, is yet to make his MLB debut but has a career 4.22 ERA in the minors.

Morrison heading to Mariners

The Seattle Mariners and Miami Marlins agreed to a trade. The Marlins will obtain RHP Carter Capps from Seattle and give Seattle 1B/OF Logan Morrison.

Logan Morrison
Morrison hasn't quit blossomed at the MLB level, but his potential is threw the roof. "Lo-Mo" as he is called, hit .247 with 23 home runs and 72 runs knocked in during the 2011 season for the Marlins. Just that stat alone proves he has the power, he just needs the opportunity and the confidence.

Carter Capps made his debut for the Mariners in 2012, only pitching in 18 games. Last season, Capps pitched in 53 games and posted a 5.49 ERA and went 3-3 but he did have 9 holds. He is still very young, 23, and gives the Marlins a nice young arm out of the bullpen.
