Dodgers bolster bullpen with additions of Wright and Perez

Chris Perez
The Los Angeles Dodgers were a very busy team on Monday, agreeing to terms with relievers Chris Perez and Jamey Wright. The terms of the deal with Perez and Wright are assumed to be one-year each but the team announced the terms were not yet disclosed.

Perez, the former Cleveland Indians closer, had a disappointing year in 2013 registering a 5-3 record with a 4.33 ERA while recording 25 saves to boot. The numbers were not the only thing that wasn't so hot for Perez last year because in July he and his wife were arrested for possession of marijuana.

The Dodgers say they consider Perez, a 2-time All-Star, an upgrade with baggage over reliever Ronald Belisario, who they lost to the Chicago White Sox earlier in the off season.

Jamey Wright
Wright, who turns 40 tomorrow, spent his 2013 campaign with the Tampa Bay Rays going 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA. Wright is considered a long-reviler as he started 1 game last season and finished out 15 of them for the Rays. He is a very good pitcher to bring in when you just need someone for a "mop-up" role.

Wright spent his 2012 campaign with the Dodgers so it is a of a homecoming as he returns to the Dodgers. Wright has been with 10 teams in his major league career.
